Pests can be a problem when growing produce. Rather than reaching for chemicals think of other remedies.
Physical barriers include covering with netting, chicken wire or a crop cage.
Other ways to prevent infestations of bugs are washes or traps.
Make a garlic wash by blitzing a couple of garlic bulbs in a food processor with water to spray or use a watering can to water onto your precious plants, (not for soft fruit, or other plants that may take on the flavour!)
Nematodes are a good way of naturally removing pests from the soil but can be expensive and have to be re-applied.
