Benefits of being a member of the Association are:-

Effective representation with the allotment landlord, Alton Town Council, following the development of a strong working relationship over several years. Quarterly meetings are held between representatives from the Association and the Council to discuss items of concern and recommend items for inclusion in future budgets.

3rd Party Liability Insurance should someone suffer an injury while on your plot.

Access to legal advice and other information through the Association’s affiliation to the National Allotment Society (NAS), including circulation of their magazine by Site Representatives. A wide range of allotment and growing information is available on their website, which includes a Members Only section, (logon and password available from the Secretary via

Substantial discount on seeds, plants and other allotment supplies through the NAS’s ‘Kings Seed Scheme’. Orders co-ordinated by the Association.

Discount on production of the Association Membership Card at the following outlets:-

Ø Alton Home Hardware, High Street, Alton.  10% on gardening products.

Ø Garthowen Garden Centre, Four Marks (excludes the Coffee Shop).  10% on sales over £15.

The aims of the Association are:-

  • To promote allotment gardening in Alton

  • To represent allotment holders interests and liaise regularly with Alton Town Council

  • To arrange and publicise events and Site information via our Website, Social Media and Notices.

  • To keep in touch with other Associations to learn from their experience

  • To negotiate discounts for members from local horticultural suppliers

The Association Committee is comprised of Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and Representatives for most Sites. They are all volunteers who give their time willingly.
